The Dissertation Colloquia offered an informal space for discussion on issues, doubts, problems and successes in the making of the dissertation.

Meet Iakovos Tsalikoglou EUROSUD Int Master Student - Internship track

#𝗺𝘆𝗘𝗨𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗨𝗗𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 at Corinth Pipeworks

Hi everyone! My name is Iakovos, I come from Greece, and I am currently in the second and final year of the EUROSUD Master’s programme in Aix-Marseille Université.

I chose this programme because I wanted to better contextualize my academic skills in South Europe, the geographical region I have lived in for most of my life. I also believed the opportunity to learn and experience life in 3 different countries would be invaluable, and even though the pandemic certainly was an obstacle, I still believe it to be so.

Another factor that really attracted me to the programme was the possibility of pursuing an internship during its second year. I ended up securing a position at Corinth Pipeworks, a private steel pipe manufacturer, that has work on several large international projects in Southern Europe and the world. As an intern at their project management division, I am responsible for assisting with the management of the company’s relations with its partners, as well as its production and supply chain. During this time, I gained transferable skills useful to anyone trying to start a professional career in addition to valuable knowledge about how international projects of these magnitudes are managed.

EUROSUD has enabled me not only to develop many marketable skills but also has allowed me to find out what form of work suits me most. I’m looking forward to employing all I’ve learned in the programme to benefit my future work!
