I spent my summer (July and August) doing an internship at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in London, working closely with the ambassador His Excellency Mr Vanja Filipovic. I mostly worked on preparing weekly reports on events in the UK or events around the world that the UK has a significant role in. These reports would then be looked over, edited, and delivered back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was a lovely experience! The idea of doing an internship at one of the embassies always seemed so distant to me, because of the importance and the level at which such an institution operates. I was lucky enough to have a very open and constructive communication with the Ambassador, and he allowed me a to have a lot of “creative freedom”, but also made sure to show me the protocol and the usual correspondences with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs back home. It was also a great opportunity to learn how to section out the most important and accurate facts in a time when there is an overwhelming amount of information.
